Vegas Birthday Baby!

For my birthday, David took me and the kids to Las Vegas! We stayed at the Venetian since it was a hotel kinda in the center of things, and since I still can not walk very well it worked out perfect. In fact the whole shopping area downstairs with the gondolas is like a whole city. It took me the better part of the day to find my way around. Plus now they have the Venezzia shops and the bridges to the Wynn and across the street to T.I. and The Mirage. I took Lauren over to the indoor shopping mall across from the Wynn so she could get a book. So many stores and no Book Stores... Anyway, the mall is another huge shopping area with shops upon shops. We took the kids over to The Belagio to check out the Atrium display. Disappointing. It seemed like so much was missing. A minimalist must have designed it. Around the corner is a totally cool chocolate store. They had White Chocolate and Chocolate rivers coming from the ceiling flowing this way and that way all the way down to under the floor. Cool. We had a banana crepe here. On the way back we cut through Caesar's and saw the display of gowns worn by Cher. She is playing there until October. There was a gift shop full of her merchandise and Bette Midler's. Cher had a program there with photo's of her from the sixties, from her Comedy Hour Show, her first years going solo. It was $40! I thought that was crazy. I would have wanted one though. I ended up purchasing her deck of cards. More my speed for stuff you don't really need but cool to have.

Then of course, we had to walk through the Trojan Shops. We got lost and David asked directions three times. I was so tired. I should not heave walked so much. The casino's seemed empty. Empty tables, empty slots. Dealers standing at tables with no one there. I don't know why they don't lower the table minimums. Then I'd play. Not for $25 a bet. I would for $5.... This blog is making me sound cheap. Hmmm. It is just I'd rather spend money on scrapbooking supplies, hee hee.

The Venetian has big suites with multiple televisions. One night the kids stayed in the room and David and I went downstairs to see The Phantom. (Thus the photo of the chandelier). We sat right underneath the chandelier to get the full effect of it falling. David ducked. He said he could feel the wind from how fast the chandelier came down. Awesome sets. I loved the French set. I loved all the colors. It was truly beautiful.

Lauren, reading in the Venezia lobby. She brought her books with her everywhere. We went to the pool and Lauren sat there for a bit (an hour). Then went to the room to read. Jackson found a friend in the pool. In fact he liked the pool. There were many pools at the hotel but the Venezia side has a four foot deep one, surrounded by statues and greenery. Jackson liked this one. He was "king of the pool."
