Last Full Day of Summer

The kids last full day of summer was today. Went by so fast, as summer always does. Lauren had a friend, Gabe, from her class over. The painters were still not finished so we had to stick
around the house the most of the day. Lauren and Gabe rode bikes to Andrews house. He lives down the hill, so it was quite the trek back home. Since the kids had to hang out we took them to Shogun for dinner. It is always fun to watch the chefs when they perform a show while cooking your meal. Tonight they were toss the egg yolk, not the egg in its shell, but the actual yolk up into the air without it breaking. Impressive. And the volcano is always fun with the fire. The kids love that. Japanese Teppan in Jackson's favorite food.

He loves going here. So this was his treat since he did not get to have a friend over. After dinner we went to Baskin Robbins for an ice cream. Oreo shakes were ordered by the kids. Yum! I remember Baskin Robbins as a kid when the store front had the chocolate and strawberry dots all over and the clerks had the white paper hats with the same brown and pink stripes. They wore all white? They had Burgundy Cherry back then. I am really dating myself. But, hey did you know the ice cream chain began in Glendale, California? Didn't Bob's Big Boy begin in Glendale? Now that was a great place. I loved their hamburgers and their chocolate shakes came in the metal fountain cups and got all frost on the outside. You could use the heat from your finger and put your initials on the cup. Well, Thursday starts school and we are ready for another busy year...
