It Seems Like Yesterday...

It seems like yesterday Lauren was in the Fifth Grade! Now she is a big Seventh Grader too hip to talk to Mom when I see her at school. Fifth Grade was a turning point for Lauren. This was the first year she started to "read" and enjoy books! It started off with the Japanese comics such as Naruto. She had to read the usual required reading stories such as Where The Red Fern Grows, Catcher In The Rye, Island of the Blue Dolphins. But she just loved the comics and Calvin and Hobbs cartoon strip books. Eventually she started to read more short story books (after I said I was not going to buy another $7 comic book). This year she can read a book in a afternoon, and has read all the stories on the shelf in the "Teen" Section of the bookstore. It is hard for me to find her something she has not read already. But she enjoys re-reading the stories. Now only if I could get her to read the classics and more of her "study" books...
